The Pyro: DVD/CD Burner Module

posted by vanman on 29 August 2007 18:21 Go to forum

Problem context :

Sharing music and pictures is a key group interaction but very challenging away from a PC. For pictures, consumers typically have to return from an event, download the pictures to their PC, upload the pictures to a photo sharing site and then email friends that the pictures are available. There are very few products that allow consumers to share photos during or immediately after the event and many consumers don't share pictures after the event due to the complexity/time required to share. Similar barriers exist for music. Consumers' music libraries are now portable due to he ubiquity of the iPod but there is no easy way to provide friends with a copy of a favorite playlist.

Proposed Solution :

The Pyro allows a consumer to provide a "hard copy" of the music that can be played in a CD player or uploaded to a PC. Simply attach the Pyro to your iPod or camera, select content to share and burn away!

There are obviously a few power consumption, compatibility, usability and form factor challenges with this product. Need help understanding the EE challenges of compatibility with iPods and digital cameras and how the product could be easy-to-use without a UI.

Thanks!
