Pen optic mouse for easy drawing
posted by jaguard on 6 December 2007 11:47
Problem context :
I have never been attracted by digitising tablets. They are big, expensive, and do not usually provide drivers for Linux. But I would like to be able to draw in any graphic application the same way I would do with a pen or brush on a sheet of paper.
Proposed Solution :
It is not possible to comfortably draw with a normal mouse, due to its form, but an optical mouse built on a pen would be perfect and multiplatform! (With usual PS2 or USB connections).
Clicks could be done by pressing the pen on the surface, but that could alter the drawing ability; alternatively clicks could be made on the keyboard, with the other hand, when needed (begin and end of each trace, changing colors or brushes, etc), and leave the hand with the pen mouse just for drawing.

This is a fantastic idea and you beat me to it. However, Ezonics beat you. If you really believe in this idea, spend the $45 and get one

Then tell us what's wrong, and can be improved, Crowdspirit's best strength wont be inventing, but improving products with user input
Keep track of:
whether it works for linux,
What made you not buy it in the first place (didn't know about it, price, want to try it out first)
any improvements you can think of.
