Light generator wallpaper

posted by arytbk on 19 September 2007 12:29 Go to forum

Problem context :

Traditional light fixtures provide light from a single point and are a pain to install or change later on. Most rooms do not have enough light or have poor quality light because of the limited flexibility of current lighting fixtures.

Proposed Solution :

Use the new high-power white LED to create tiles that can be easily fixed on walls or ceilings.

All the LEDS in a tile are connected together to share the power supply.

Tiles are connected together when joined to propagate the power supply.

This way, only one single connection to the main power line is required - at the most convenient tile of the group of tiles.

In addition it is possible to use color LEDs to provide various colors of light.

EL-sheets not LED's

answered by wmcleod on 19 September 2007 22:05

Why use LED's? Electroluminescent sheets seem much better suited to this. EL sheets are
Higher efficiency.
Softer light
Produce less heat
AC power so you don't need an inverter
Flat
Can't have a dead spot.

there is also a new product cheaper and more efficient but just like EL sheets, check time magazines top inventions of the year.

Nice Wall / Ceiling Tiles

answered by Aphasia on 31 October 2007 19:45

You can get a nice white light with some new LED's. I can imagine a product similar in size to current ceramic wall tiles and slotting together up and accross a wall or ceiling. The use of a single power source with connectors on each side or corner of the tiles would enable quick connection and easy assembly.
