Life monitor

posted by crutches on 1 September 2007 19:54 Go to forum

Problem context :

There are many companies that make heart monitors for athletes. But that's just one physiological information. I would like to have a full operating room style data monotoring system around my wrist or behind my ear.

Proposed Solution :

I want it all (if possible): heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, alcohol content, salt content, breathing rate, sweating rate, alpha, beta, delta, gamma waves and many more.

Then this system should bluetooth it's way to my computer and give me live graphs as well as history.

At first this system would be used for the amateur and pro athletes but a few years down the road, this could become a simple inexpensive health monotoring system for patients at home and the keeping the health history of the older population.

Like the idea, but the technology is still to be invented

I really like the idea to be able to monitor life parameters for a long term : it can shows you many usefull infos about the long term evolution of your health. But, if we concentrate only on the hearth rate monitor : today the only reliable monitors are the one like belts you have to wear on your chest which is not pleasant 24/24. A wrist is definitively a better solution, but not reliable today. Batteries should be removable in such device to be able to monitor 24h a day : you put a new battery while charging another, etc.. Bluetooth is okay, but perhaps a less energy consumer technology like zigbee is to be studied.
