Laser Video Projector for Portable Devices

Problem context :
As portable devices get more powerful, we're able to use them for more activities. The same small form factor which makes these devices portable makes their displays small. These displays are not always ideal for some of the activities that these devices support.
Proposed Solution :
A laser based projector, perhaps monochromatic to start, would likely have the following benefits:
- Smaller form factor than LCD projector.
- Less power required than LCD projector.
- No need for focusing optics as in an LCD projector.

Development in this area is already quite far. Have a look at Microvision's Pico Projector. http://www.microvision.com/pico_projector_displays/index.html It will be available as an embedded and accessory display for mobile devices.
