iPodllow, iPillow, Podllow, or Pollow?

Problem context :

If you have an iPod or any mp3 music player, and you'd like to enjoy your music when you sleep, you might need to wear your headphones if you don't want to disturb others. If you're a side sleeper like me, you'll probably be annoyed by the discomfort in you ears caused by the headphones no matter how small your headphones are or how soft your pillows are. You might be able to live with the discomfort for a little while, but for an extended period of time, it really coud hurt.

Proposed Solution :

A pillow with a hole or a groove might help greatly. Just like those massage chairs that have a headpiece that is hollow where you can rest your face on. The whole or groove will provide enough space for the ears and headphones when you sleep sidewise. Very simple but probably useful idea.

The ideal design would be to make the whole or groove ergonormic (comfortable) and configurable, that is, you can adjust the size of the hole or groove, and even fill it back to be like a normal pillow.

Noise cancelling headphones that fit like a headband or beany

answered by tagline on 19 September 2007 7:25

For those people who live near a night club, work night shift how about headphones that you can actually wear in bed. If the bulk of the electronics (Battery if wireless was on the forehead or top of the head it wouldn't get in the way or be so uncomfortable (Assuming most people don't sleap on their faces or tops of their heads). All the ones out there are really only for sleaping on planes (ie sitting up an sleeping) The beany version would be cool for snowboarders. The headband version for... b-boys???

These exist!

These are already quite popular. Here's a very literal form, that actually resembles an ipod http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/mp3/8b18/?cpg=froogle but these pillows also can be found as a small doughnut for side sleepers, as well as a myriad of other cutesy and functional forms.

You could still make it it's just that you need to realize you'd have A LOT of competition. If you really want this product badly enough to suggest it ask yourself, How come I haven't bought one yet? http://www.huaxutex.cn/images/pic/speaker%20pillow.jpg
