Archive: Community Launch

Hello everyone,

We have added a new facility, the IDEA ENGINE, in order to extend and improve the possibilities of the brainstorming which takes place on IDEAVOX. The IDEA ENGINE is complementary to IDEAVOX; here is an explanation of the differences:

  • IDEAVOX helps in the submission of ideas in order to attract the most important audience as a result of its « digg » like system. It’s possible to describe an idea or submission but we recommend not adding too many details otherwise people may be a little put off. Generally speaking they are more attracted to a clear definition. We could describe IDEAVOX as a way of creating teasers for the ideas and submissions in order to obtain rapid real time feedback.

  • The IDEA ENGINE has been put in place as a means to add details to your idea for people who are interested. It also helps organising the submissions so as to increase the clarity and in attracting the most suitable resources to work on the project. In this way, it will greatly improve the overall discussion about the ideas.

  • NB. We do apoligize for the inconvience due to the double registration. We’re currently working on this issue.

Please note that a Moderator will be chosen for each idea forum. They will have the task of both sorting and assessing the contributions to the IDEA ENGINE based on the feedback received from the IDEA ENGINE and the IDEAVOX. Naturally by default, the moderator will be the initial submitter of the given idea.

Feel free to add suggestions or anything you think that may be helpful; the forums are there for you !

With my best wishes,

Lionel, CrowdSpirit Founder

Dear CrowdSpirit community members,
TC40
I’m very happy to announce from San Francisco that CrowdSpirit has been officially launched at the Techcrunch40 event. Just to remind you, this event is organized by Michael Arrington, Jason Calacanis and Heather Harde. The format is simple: Forty of the hottest new startups from all around the World announce and demo their products over a two day period at this major event. In total, there were almost to 700 submissions from 26 different countries and as the name suggests, only 40 were retained. This afternoon, I have presented CrowdSpirit in front of major media companies (check here).

Thanks once again for your wonderful support. We can now look forward to the next stage of our venture: the launch of our first product !

With my very best regards,

Lionel, CrowdSpirit Founder

One article which picked up on the recent site launch highlighted the fact that deaf people have problems both with products aimed at the deaf community as well as general products for the mainstream market.

A general principle of usability is that if something is designed with disabled people in mind, then it is usually more accessible for the able bodied as well. Whilst many of us might complain about products being difficult to use or missing certain functions which we would find useful, it is clear that disabled people are likely to have at least as many issues and probably more.

We hope that one of the outcomes of the CrowdSpirit community is that not only do products become more customer friendly in terms of what people want on the market, but that in doing so we also address the particular usability issues faced by disabled people and in helping that community then we will all benefit from more consumer friendly products.

CrowdSpirit: Using Web 2.0 to transform product creation and distribution

Today sees the launch of the first public beta of the CrowdSpirit site, an international venture based in France (Grenoble), which couples the power of crowds and the collaboration of Web 2.0 to reinvent the supply chain and product development cycle.

CrowdSpirit has been created to resolve the problem of popular consumer products taking too long to reach the market place, not always being in tune with the public’s needs and being unduly held up trying to find a route to market. Even The Beatles, JK Rowling and the inventor of the wind up radio all had significant problems setting up a supply chain to get their market leading products in front of an adoring public. It is not in the inventor’s or the public’s interest for it to be so difficult.

CrowdSpirit believes that the general public and not commercial interests are the best advisers on novel product creation and are targeting the field of electronic products to turn their revolutionary manufacturing vision into reality.

CrowdSpirit is harnessing the “power of crowds” to allow inventors and adapters of technology to take their products to market via a collaborative distribution channel which overcomes many of the difficulties that inventors have faced in the past. Furthermore this distribution channel provides opportunities for inventors, developers, distributors and manufacturers to contribute at different stages to enable the supply chain.

This is Crowdsourcing taken to the marketplace and has been hailed by Marc Benioff, CEO of salesforce.com, as “The next wave”. Analysts believe the concept of product creation by companies that dynamically build the supply chain could be set to change the world of business. Sometimes labelled as ‘prosumerism’, Web 2.0 allows it to happen.

Web 2.0 has seen a massive generation of on-line content from blogs and video challenging traditional media companies. With the recent YouTube sale and the rapid movement of TV companies putting content on-line, Web 2.0 has only just begun. The media is, however, just one consumer space. CrowdSpirit is targeting the electronics sector initially and other sectors could follow as the Web 2.0 revolution extends outwards from on-line content through one consumer market after another.

Hello All,

Â

Have you ever wondered how products end up on the market that confuse users or are you fed up with products that seem to be designed by engineers for engineers without taking the general public into account?

Â

Maybe you have searched high and low for months and even your favourite retailer doesn’t stock something you particular which would make your life easier. Perhaps you just even want to change an existing product and improve it a bit. If so, then this initiative is for you.

Â

Our community will have the power for the first time in the history of manufacturing to be actively involved in the design, selection and the sales of highly innovative products. These products will no longer depend on big manufacturers having control over what is made and what isn’t.

Â

We are looking for all kind of Ideas from the community. Maybe a totally new innovative product or simple product improvement. You will be at the center of this initiative and you can chose one of several roles to play your part in this revolution. The collaborative platform is currently in design, so join the community to participate to his development in your first role as privileged beta user.

Â

Talk to you very soon and in the meantime, please refer this initiative to your friend. The more the community grows, the more powerful we will be able to bring our dreams to life.

Â

The CrowdSpirit team

The power of crowds harnessing the spirit of imagination.
