A number of UK roads are lookin’ a lot brighter now, and it’s all thanks to the SolarLite smart stud. Produced and marketed by Astucia, these active markers trump the traditional passive reflectors by storing up solar energy all day and then emitting light from dust ’til dawn in order to improve visibility from around 90-meters to 900-meters. The LED-based units reportedly extend driver reaction time from 3.2-seconds to over half a minute when cruising at 60mph, have an expected lifespan of eight to ten years and are said to have reduced night time accidents in certain areas by over 70-percent. Unfortunately, we’ve no idea when (or if) these things will show up on roads in other nations, but this would sure beat toggling one’s brights off and on to get a better look ahead while simultaneously infuriating oncoming motorists.

Oled Concept Watch

Here is a picture of of the Oled concept watch which shows a field of dots, or “stars” when it’s not showing you the time. When you either tap or shake the watch, the dots rearrange into a analogue interface. Looks and seems like a pretty cool idea, however, this watch by Lv Zhogfang’s is merely a concept as of right now. But if this ever is manufactured you might want to check this on out!

The Bluetooth Sports Helmet which is selling will let you get your groove on while you are carving your way down a mountain, instead of you know, listening for signs of danger. I see a place for this in enabling communications on the slopes, it makes it easier. I have had to be rescued on the side of a mountain at least once, but this is certainly going to make the worst type of skier and snowboarder even more oblivious to what is going on around them. You don’t drive a car while wearing headphones, you don’t cycle while wearing headphones and I really think that you should not ski or snowboard while wearing headphones, it is just too dangerous.

Universal remotes are nothing new but some are a little easier to use than others.

Philips is pinning its flag to the ‘ease of use’ argument with its new Prestigo SRU8015 Universal Remote and its cute, 2in, 176 x 220 pixel resolution colour display.

The remote, complete with rotary wheel control, is capable of handling up to 15 different home entertainment devices [from a choice of 25 categories] and the company promises that set-up is simple, requires no PC access nor complex manual – bold claims indeed.

The colour screen no doubt complements the inclusion of more than 400 icons which users can assign to devices or their favourite TV channels, removing the need to remember channel numbers.

Philips says the SRU8015 universal remote supports almost any product, and can learn the codes of new remotes by pointing it at them and giving them a little zap.
